Selangor Opposition chief Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo believes that there is a power struggle among PKR politicians to wrest power from the Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

Dr Khir believes that the scandalous photos of Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Elizabeth Wong being exposed to the public marked the start of a bigger political plot in PKR to topple Khalid.

“I believe that there is a power struggle among PKR politicians to wrest power from the Mentri Besar.

Elizabeth’s issue that was unfolding could be a designed plan to remove Khalid from office and replace him with another person from the PKR state’s coalition, he told a press conference.

Dr Khir stressed that the plans to topple Khalid from office had no links with Umno or Barisan Nasional.

“We are not behind this devious plan. So, I feel, Pakatan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, should retract his statements made to the media that Elizabeth’s issue was engineered by Umno.

“Such allegations saddened fellow Umno members and me, as we do not stoop that low,” he said.

He added that from newspaper reports, the special friend of Wong is a PKR member and there is no connection with Umno or Barisan Nasional.

“Our hearts go out to her. We understand her predicament. Her resignation is a good step forward as not all Malaysian could accept the issue.

“Now, it is better for PKR to accept her resignation, as it will stop all the harassment she is facing. We all hope the harassment will stop and all parties involved will give her space,” he said.
