Parliament: Motion to discuss Karpal’s accusation rejected

Deputy Speaker Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar rejected a Barisan Nasional MP’s emergency motion to act against Karpal Singh (DAP-Bukit Gelugor) for making an accusation against Umno Youth.
Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) stood up after Question Time and said that Karpal had uttered a malicious remark against Umno members for saying that the Umno Youth had sent live bullets to him.
“If Bukit Gelugor is sincere, he should repeat his earlier statement outside the House.
“Don’t use parliamentary immunity to make accusations.
“If my motion is rejected, I call on 15 MPs to stand in support of my motion,” Bung Mokhtar said, while about 20 Barisan MPs stood up.
However, Dr Wan Junaidi turned it down, saying that the police were investigating the matter and that the Speaker will be informed of the outcome of the probe.
He added a committee has also been set up under the Houses of Parliament (Privileges and Powers) Act to investigate the scuffle in the Parliament lobby.
In the incident on Feb 26, 22 Selangor Umno Youth members had entered Parliament, demanding an apology from Karpal Singh.
